Dear students of the faculty of Physics and technology!

Conferences, seminars, round tables

The first international conference in Central Asia REI-20 is held by ENU named after L.N. Gumileva

For the first time, the twentieth international scientific conference “Radiation Effects in Insulators” is being held in Central Asia, within the walls of the Eurasian National University with the support of the IAEA and JINR.

The forum is dedicated to fundamental and applied research related to radiation effects in dielectrics and non-metallic materials. After the first 1981 REI conference in Italy, a series of events held every two years has become an outstanding international platform for presenting and exchanging information on advanced discoveries and achievements in the field of radiation effects and modification of dielectrics by ion beams.

The opening of the REI-20 conference, which brought together more than 100 world-renowned physicists from 20 different countries, took place on August 19, 2019.

Foreign guests were welcomed by the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Innovations of the ENU named after L.N. Gumilyov Akbota Zholdasbekova.

Vice-rector proudly noted the achievements of physicists of the University, adding that the direction "Physics and Astronomy" ENU them. L.N. Gumilyova - in the top of the best in fields of knowledge QS World University Rankings by Subject. Having acquainted the participants with a brief history of the university's achievements, Akbota Niyazovna wished everyone to successfully hold the event.

On behalf of the entire Faculty of Physics and Technology that organized this event, an assistant professor at the Department of Radio Electronics and Technical Physics at ENU named after L.N. Gumileva Alma Dauletbekova, thanking scientists for their participation.

During sectional sessions, advanced experimental methods were considered, effects associated with irradiation of ion beams, reports on the direction of carbides and nitrides were heard.

On the first day of the conference more than 10 scientists from France, Spain, Germany, China, Japan, the USA, Great Britain and South Africa spoke.

On the sidelines of the conference participants shared their views on the conference and voiced expectations

Flyura Jurabekova, Professor, University of Helsinki

I really like it here. I think the organization is very professional. A lot of famous foreign researchers who do a very good job.

I focus on fast, heavy ions that excite electrode structures. I study how these excitations are reflected in the atomic structure. There are a lot of experimenters. I think that we will not only find a common language, but also agree to conduct joint work.

Anatoly Popov, Head of Laboratory, Institute of Solid State Physics at the Latvian State University

The first thing that was important for us was to gather all the main representatives of science in the city of Nur-Sultan. I believe that we have succeeded. I actively participate in the work of the program committee. The conference is represented by all the outstanding players in this branch of science.

Evgeni Kotomin, Head of Theoretical Department, Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Latvia

This conference focuses on fundamental aspects. Here we are trying to understand, from an atomistic point of view, the mechanisms that occur with materials under intense irradiation. These are fundamental studies, without which it is impossible to understand the properties of materials during long-term use. We expect that when meeting at a conference, people will enrich each other with new ideas and exchange experiences.

Victor Lisitsyn, Professor, Tomsk Polytechnic University

The direction that is developing here with radiation effects, it seems to me that this is one of the areas very necessary for Kazakhstan. After all, Kazakhstan, if I am not mistaken, occupies one of the first places in the world in uranium reserves. Therefore, no matter what happens there, uranium is the raw material of the future, the energy of the future, therefore Kazakhstan has at its disposal this great wealth. Kazakhstan needs to develop not only the supply and production of uranium, but also natural processing. You understand, it is one thing to supply raw materials, another to make a finished product. For this, people and conferences of this kind are needed.

Sergey Nikiforov, Professor, Ural Federal University

This conference is significant for me in that it is a new experience. I can mention an interesting report on track visualization. Radiation technologies are used very widely. I think everyone who works with radiation can find their niche here. Conference topics, reports are very interesting and universal.

Recall that the conference will last until August 23, 2019.

April 12, 2019 at the ENU. L.N. Gumilyov hosted the XIV International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Scientists "Science and Education-2019".

In the program of the XIV International Conference “Science and Education - 2019”, 6 sub-sections were allocated: “Space Engineering and Technology”, “Radio Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunications: Current Problems of Infocommunication Technologies”, “Physics”, “Technical Physics”, “Nuclear Physics, new materials and technologies ”,“ Technical Physics ”,“ Methods of Teaching Physics ”.

At the Faculty of Physics and Technology, weekly scientific seminars are held on nuclear physics, radioecology, and functional materials. At the weekly seminar, faculty and doctoral students of the FTF make reports on relevant topics.
