International School of the Conference REI-20 at ENU

On August 18, 2019, an international school was opened at the Eurasian National University as part of the XX international scientific conference REI-20 (Radiation effects in isolators-20). The event brought together more than 50 scientific physicists from 15 countries.

During the event, participants gave lectures on fundamental and applied research in the field of radiation effects in dielectrics and non-metallic materials.

A scientist from Croatia, Marco Karlusic, gave a lecture on the topic “Introduction to the Analysis of the Ion Beam”. A report by Anatoly Popov from Latvia is devoted to a review of radiation damage and the basic properties of point defects in broadband slotted metal halides, oxides and perovskites. Professor Alexander Lushchik from Estonia spoke about the mechanisms of creating structural defects in insulators of various types. Representative from South Africa Jacques O’Conell devoted the lecture to the topic of TEM as a tool for studying the modification of material at the atomic level.

On the sidelines, the professor of the University of Tartu, Alexander Lushchik, spoke a little about the objectives of the conference, and why renewable energy sources cannot solve the large-scale industrial problems.

V School-Seminar New materials and modern measuring technologies (NM & CIT -2018)

April 16-17, 2018 at the Faculty of Physics and Technology of ENU named after VN School-seminar “New Materials & Modern Measuring Technologies -5 (NM & SIT -2018)” was held by L.N. Gumilyov.

The main purpose of the School-Seminar New Materials & Modern Measuring Technologies - 5 (NM & CIT -2018) is to organize a lively dialogue between the participants of the seminar, exchange of scientific ideas in the most modern areas of modern materials science, and the introduction of scientific and technological knowledge. Another main goal of the seminar is to attract young students to the world of modern international science.

In the framework of the School-Seminar New Materials & Modern Measuring Technologies (NM & CIT -2018), the following issues were considered:

• Radiation effects in materials

• Nanomaterials and nanotechnology

• Science and Technology News

• Computer simulation of material properties

• Prospects for the development of youth science

At the seminar, relevant reports were made by: Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor JINR V.A. Skuratov, visiting professor T.M. Inerbaev, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor K.A. Kuterbekov, PhD Nazarbayev University J. Utegulov, D. Akilbekova and S. Nurkenov, PhD Institute of Nuclear Physics A. Kozlovsky and others.
