Student of the Department "Space technology" winner of the competition «Hackathon-2019»

 

On February 23-24, 2019 on the territory of the scientific library of the Eurasian national University in Makerspace Astana workshop was held the first educational hackathon among young programmers with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan and Chevron. Within two days, the participants were prepared devices to improve the educational process in the future. More than 40 teams applied to the hackathon, 15 of which were selected for the main stage of the hackathon.

To participate, young people aged 14 to 21 had to create a team of 2 people and present a possible project idea on the Arduino platform, Raspberry Pi.

 

 

In preparation for the competition, the teams were able to attend intensive master classes on working with microcontrollers Arduino, Raspberry Pi, having mastered the initial skills in 3D modeling and printing.

The team of the 3rd year student of the Department "Space technology" myrzabekov Erkin took the 1st place in the competition of technological blanks "Hackathon-2019" and won $ 1000.

"In Kazakhstan, the number of various activities carried out to implement bold and creative solutions is growing. In the hackathon "HackEd" young people were invited to share their views on the educational process. How and what children are taught is usually decided by adults, but it was interesting for us to listen to the opinion of young people and find new and interesting approaches to learning with them",- said Ann Perelli, attaché of the us Embassy for culture and education.

"This year is special for us, we called it the Year of youth. We believe that we can improve Kazakhstan's society and build continuity of generations. Currently, children do not want to learn in such a way as their parents learned, we need to introduce interactive and smart technologies into the educational process",- shared his impressions the winner of the hackathon, a student of the Department of Space technology and technology, a member of the Mars group Myrzabekov Erkin.
