Faculty of physics and technics was set up in April of 2009.
Today 5 department and educational laboratory center compose faculty:
- Department of Technical physics;
- Department of General and theoretical physics;
- International department of Nuclear physics, new material and technology;
- Department of Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunication;
- Department of Space technics and technology;
Faculty follows three level system in preparation of specialists:
- base on higher education (undergraduate , term 4 years) by specialty:

• 5В060500 – Nuclear physics (term 5 years );
• 5В071900 - Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunication;

• 6М060400 - Physics (natural science);
• 6М060500 - Nuclear physics (term 5 years );
• 6М071900 - Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunication;

• 6М074000 – Nanotehnology and nano materials;
• 6М074600 - Space technics and technology.
- base on after high education (PhD, term 3 years) by specialty:

The faculty has the following functions:
• Interdisciplinary research complex based on the DC-60 heavy ion accelerator ( with the National Nuclear Center of the Republic of Kazakhstan);
• Laboratory of engineering profile "Track membranes";
• Space Monitoring Center;
• Eurasian International Center for Theoretical Physics.
