Dear students of the faculty of Physics and technology!

Space technique and technology

History of development of the Department «Space engineering and technology»

To develop the space path of Kazakhstan, taking into account the urgent need for specialists in the rocket and space industry, in 2009 the Department of "Space engineering and technology" was opened at the L.N. Gumilyov ENU, where the beginning of training of bachelors of engineering and technology in the specialties was laid: "Radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications" and "Space engineering and technology".

In 2012, the Department of "Space engineering and technology" was reorganized and the specialty" radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications "was transferred to the newly formed Department"radio engineering, electronics and telecommunications".

Professor Umirzak Tazhigalievich Kasymov was appointed the first head of the Department of Space engineering and technology by the order of the rector.

Professor U.T. Kasymov is a graduate of the design and mechanical faculty of the Bauman Moscow higher technical school (currently Moscow state technical University) specialty "Rocket launch complex" and has production experience in real design and serial production of cruise and tactical missile systems of the Soviet Union. Currently, he continues to work as a Professor of the Department.

The first set of bachelor's students was implemented in 2010 and the bachelor's educational program was developed taking into account the experience of aerospace universities in Russia (RF).

The educational program of the Russian Federation for aerospace specialties is compiled at the Bauman Moscow state technical University, which takes into account almost all aspects of the state and development of the aerospace industry, including: design, production and operation of aircraft of all types.

The Department has a special design and technology Bureau(SKTB) "Aerospace and special engineering", the chief designer of which is Professor U. T. Kasymov.

This SKTB is used for preliminary development of solid-fuel missiles for scientific and technological purposes, ultralight aircraft, aerostatic aircraft and various technical devices using modern CAD technologies. Students and undergraduates of the Department also participate in the implementation of these design developments.

A long-term agreement was signed with the International space school in Baikonur and Roscosmos on the training and familiarization practice at the Baikonur cosmodrome for students and undergraduates of our Department.

The Department also signed a number of memoranda of cooperation with two machine-building enterprises of Kazakhstan (JSC "Mashsvar, Almaty" and "Astana technological Park", Astana), JSC NC "Kazgaryshsapary", the national center for space technology and technology (NCTIT), Almaty," Galam " LLP and other aerospace companies of near and far abroad.

In order to expand the opportunities for training personnel with deep theoretical knowledge and necessary practical skills in accordance with the content of educational programs for the space industry of Kazakhstan, the developed educational programs were amended taking into account the proposals of employers of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Garysh Sapary", LLP" Galam".

From March 2015 to April 2016, the Department was headed by associate Professor Tulegulov Amandos Dabysovich.

The first set of undergraduates was carried out in 2015 in the profile direction (1.5 years) in the specialty 6M074600 "Space engineering and technology" under the program SPIID-2. SINCE 2017. the training of masters of scientific and pedagogical direction is carried out.

From December 2013 to December 2017, the Department participated in the Tempus–Sesremo international educational project "Strengthening education in space-based remote sensing for monitoring of eco systems in Izrael, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan".

As a result of this project, changes were made to the educational program of the specialty "Space engineering and technology" and seven textbooks were published with the logo of the project "Tempus–Sesremo", including one textbook in English.

A long-term Memorandum of cooperation was also signed with the Institute of aviation and Astronautics of the technical University of Berlin (BTU), which allowed many students and undergraduates of the Department to pass a two-week internship at this Institute of BTU.

The Department has been working since 2016 on the international projects Erasmus++ "Development of two cycle innovative curriculum in microelectronic engineering" (DOCMEN) and APPLE, funded by the European Commission. The project coordinators are the Cracow technical University (Poland) and the Center "Engineering Consulting and Management for Space Technologies" (Berlin, Germany). The project partners are 16 leading universities from Italy, Germany, Bulgaria, Poland, Armenia, Israel and Kazakhstan, and 2 research organizations. The main area of research is related to the modernization of educational programs (OP) and the development of innovative courses in micro - and nanoelectronic technologies, as well as their implementation in the educational process in bachelor's and master's degrees in accordance with the Bologna process and European best practices. Teachers of the Department in accordance with the program of academic mobility of the project data were trained on the basis of related departments of leading European universities in Berlin, Sofia, Cracow, and Turin on the topics " Nanocoats and nanostructures – theory and practice ""Designing BIO / CMOS interfaces", "Nanoelectronics and Photonics", "Internet of things Applications and data management", got acquainted with the achievements of scientific laboratories, attended practical and laboratory classes in educational laboratories on microelectronics, technologies for using alternative energy sources, as well as in a number of other laboratories for engineering students.
